Avenir Women’s Health was established to enhance the patient experience. We pride ourselves on having a higher level of care, while working directly with the family to increase communication and patient satisfaction while delivering the best outcome for both mothers and babies.
We are a growing national program, currently operating in Las Vegas. We provide in-house, Board Certified OB/GYN physician support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

The Avenir Women’s Health Hospitalist Model is a collaborative effort between the hospitals we are affiliated with, the community healthcare providers and our team of Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialists. 

We are here to provide immediate care to expectant mothers with obstetrical needs no matter the location, complication, or situation. You want the best care for you and your baby – and we do too. We ensure that you will be treated with highly trained OB/GYN physicians with experience in emergent care.

Dr. Michael Scarff

OB/GYN Hospitalist

With deep local roots, Dr. Scarff brings over 35 years of OB/GYN experience to the community. His career was inspired by his father, who also was a physician here in Las Vegas. Dr. Scarff graduated from the University of Nevada School of Medicine and went on to complete his residency at the University Medical Center, Southern Nevada. With dedication and a passion for education, he enjoys the collaborative environment of the hospital.

Dr. Daniel Lott

OB/GYN Hospitalist

Dr. Lott graduated medical school from the Western University of Health Sciences in California and completed his residency at the University of Nevada, School of Medicine. Dr. Lott has been a practicing OB/GYN for 30 years. He was Active Duty in the Air Force for 4 years and has been a full time Laborist for 6 1/2 years. After 32 years of marriage, he recently lost his loving wife to cancer. He now focuses his efforts on his two successful grown children, one living here in Las Vegas and that recently moved to Nashville.

Dr. Darwana R. Todd

OB/GYN Hospitalist

Darwana Ratleff Todd, MD is board certified in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a fellow with the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a member of the American Medical Association and Society of OB Hospitalists. Dr. Todd is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana and received her medical degree and residency training at LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. She is currently practicing as an obstetric laborist/gynecologist and has been since 2007. However, she has been employed in a variety of practice types and states to include Louisiana, Florida, Maryland, DC, New Mexico, Texas and Nevada. Dr. Todd is a veteran of the US Army and has served as an active-duty soldier in several military operations as both enlisted and as a medical officer. She believes in providing high quality, compassionate and empathetic obstetric outpatient and inpatient care to patients who arrive on the labor unit needing immediate medical evaluation and treatment.

Dr. Shawna Kneesel

OB/GYN Hospitalist

A native to Las Vegas, Dr. Kneesel completed her medical degree at Creighton University in Omaha, NE and chose to pursue her residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL. She was a generalist at Women’s Specialty Care for 10 years, perfecting her surgical skills and forming pivotal patient relationships before deciding to move on to OB/GYN Hospitalist work.  

She has worked at 4 local Las Vegas hospitals for the past 3 1/2 years as an OB/GYN Hospitalist.  When she finishes her hospitalist shifts, she begins her other full time job – mom to 2 beautiful daughters ages 11 and 8. She loves to travel and explore with her girls.
